While 2D Bone Animation systems are the current trend, the cut-out animation system still can be used to create sprites for games. The result is a super smooth animation that only needs a single image for the whole animation of the sprite. Bones are associated with different areas of this mesh, offering a method to ‘deform’ the sprite like it was a 3D object.
